I moved to the Salt Lake Valley in the mid-1970s after graduating from Penn State to try skiing the big mountains for a couple of years. I never left!

I have been part of the Little Cottonwood ski community for over 50 years. I have also been part of the swimming community at the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center for over 20 years.

In 1983, I purchased my first house in Cottonwood Heights. That is when I first discovered the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center. What a fun and wonderful place to play and work out! I said, "Wow!" There was a 10-meter diving platform, a 50-meter swimming pool, and an indoor skating rink, all at the same location. What a great place!

Later, I met my wife, Lisa, who was born in Cottonwood Heights. She attended Butler Elementary and Butler Middle School and graduated from Brighton High School. We still live in the same ZIP code where she was born, and we use the Rec Center frequently.

The Rec Center is such a great asset to all of us who live in Cottonwood Heights. I am thankful to the people who had the vision to purchase the land and build this wonderful facility, as well as purchase the land for Bywater Park, Antczak Park, and Butler Park. All are tremendous assets to our community.

As a trustee for Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation since January 2026, I am proud to represent all the patrons and residents of our special district.
